For over 70 years, Barrault Horticulture has embodied a passion for plants and family know-how handed down from generation to generation. Founded in 1952 in the heart of the Loire Valley, the company has never ceased to evolve, combining horticultural tradition with technical innovation.

Throughout its history, it has demonstrated strong local roots, a remarkable ability to adapt and a constant commitment to quality, plant diversity and respect for natural cycles.

From a small-scale nursery in the early days to a modern structure with a regional reach, each stage of its development reflects a vision of horticulture based on exacting standards, authenticity and creativity.

70th Anniversary

To mark the occasion, the company opened its doors to the public.

2022

New horticultural creation

Launch of Sauge Belle de Loire ®, reinforcing the company's plant identity at the heart of the Loire region.

2014

Official transmission

Claire and Véronique became co-managers after the gradual purchase of the family shares.

2012

Regional plant innovation

Launch of Sauge Violette de Loire ®, a new emblematic variety developed in-house.

2002

Entering the 3rd generation

Claire and Véronique Barrault join the company as employees. The company also celebrates its 50th anniversary.

1990

New commercial direction

End of retail sales and markets. The company turns to wholesalers and garden centers to broaden its distribution.

Investment in modernization

Automation of tasks with the purchase of a transplanting robot, a mechanical seeder and conveyor belts.

1978

Taken over by the second generation

After the death of Pierre Barrault, Michel and Danielle Barrault take over the business. Expansion to 4.5 ha, 2,800 m² of greenhouses and 8 employees. The business diversifies into green, bedding and flowering plants. Nursery gradually abandoned.

Regional sales and varietal innovation

The company sells at eight weekly markets and creates its first protected variety: Tradescantia Callisia Roséa ®.

1968

Crop mechanization

Acquisition of the first rototiller, saving time and improving efficiency in soil preparation work.

1962

First greenhouses and diversification

Construction of the first 400 m² glass greenhouse. Start of cyclamen and flowering plant cultivation.

1960

First employee hired

The business develops and requires the hiring of a first employee.

1952

Creation of the family business

Pierre and Odile Barrault found the horticultural business, focusing on roses, bulbs, nurseries and cut flowers. Production takes place entirely on site.
